A team of researchers from the Center for Architectural Studies of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences – Rachel Angelova, Miriana Iordanova and Juli Furkov, have been laid the begining of the study of synagogues in Bulgaria which are in a good state of repair, as well as those of whom only ruins have remain or are, otherwise, known by documents. The work done so far was partially supported by Center for Architectural Studies at Bulgarian Academy of Sciences; Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture, New York; ETH, Zurich; CEU Summer University, Budapest.. We especially owe thanks to our colleagues from the Preserving the Monuments of Culture Institute, to Prof. C. Heinrich and Prof. W. Oechslin, to Mrs. P. Tomova, Mrs L. Vrangova and Ms. S. Petrova
