The Shoumen Synagogue was placed on the highest part of the city, very closed to the river. The central space type, that was typical for the Sephardi tradition was characterized with a spatial focus on the centralised aranged platform – teiva. There was a gallery for women that was reached from the entrance hall. There was a solar clock on the main facade. It was declared architectural monument of culture. There was a project of reconstruction of the Synagogue as a chamber concert hall, but because of the lack of resources it had been selfdemolished in mid of the 90-s.
